If you haven’t seen these yet, prepare to be blown away. These have been coined “Wee Planets”. There technical term is stereographic projections. They are made from actual pictures and a few select programs. These have been floating around blogs for awhile now and I keep running into a few new people making them such as heiwa4126 on flickr who is now making planets in Japan. He’s also making inverse planets that really mess with your head. Want to make these? Head over to Alexandre Duret-Lutz’s flickr page. Under the account name of gadl, he has made step by step instructions, history, and explanations behind the science of making these beautiful planets. He originally made his first planets with a point and shoot camera.
