Together with co-directors Cory Strassburger and Ming Hsiung, we produced a motion magazine cover and feature spread for Viv Mag – an all digital magazine, which would allow us to create content that will be able to live on the iPad and other tablet devices where digital magazines can live.
Our collaboration with Cory and Ming has been a phonemonal experience and you’ll see a lot more great work coming from this team. Check out this featurette, which goes behind the scenes and shows how we put it all together.
Special thanks to Campion for taking a risk with me. Without the bravery of a good client, we wouldn’t be able to bring you work of this caliber.
Extra special thanks to B2Pro Lighting, Red Camera & Jarred Land.
Extra extra special thanks to Chuck Carey and the good people at Troika Design Group without whom we would still be waiting for renders.

Pingback by Considering the Future of Print Creative | SOMETHING MASSIVE | Los Angeles, New York, Buenos Aires 03.22.10 @ 1:34 PMThe photography and video component is great – no denying that. It’s certainly an interesting idea but things moving in my peripheral while I’m trying to read content is really distracting. Perhaps the video should stop moving completely when the text content is shown.
I’m not sure what the solution is but remember: this is a magazine I’m trying to read. If you distract me from doing that it’s going to tick me off.
Dare I say it but.. is the “skip intro” button about to make a come-back?
Comment by Scott Oakley 03.24.10 @ 12:42 PM[...] Alexx Henry has created a series of videos showcasing motion video for digital magazines consumed on devices like the iPad. Pingback by Is this what the magazine reading experience will be like on the iPad? | ScottOakley.com 03.24.10 @ 1:42 PMLooks amazing, well done!
I have a question though, that might sound a bit smartaleccy…..
How is this different to a flash website? Or a dvd with menus?
Is it simply because it will be an ‘app’ on an ipad?
As I said, I am asking this out of genuine curiosity, not being difficult LOL
